About Loma Vista:

The Loma Vista Ranch, family owned and operated, was founded in 1941 deep in the brush country of South Texas near the community of Loma Vista. The family patriarch, born of humble origins, Feb 12, 1886 in a wagon in Atascosa County, Texas became a Texas oil industry pioneer in 1918 and was the original founder of the ranch He was a charter member of Santa Gertrudis Breeders International. Santa Gertrudis cattle were a new breed developed by the King Ranch.

In subsequent years more Santa Gertrudis cattle, horses and whitetail deer, all from the King Ranch made their way to Loma Vista.

Despite being a working cattle ranch, wildlife conservation and the development of an outstanding whitetail deer herd were part of everyday life as far back as the early 1960's.

By the mid 1960's over 2,000 head of Santa Gertrudis cattle grazed the Loma Vista acreage. The family properties included over 25,000 acres of rangeland in South Texas. The main Loma Vista ranch held over 15,000 acres under one fence.

By the Spring of 1974 cattle buyers from 31 states and Canada made their way to South Texas for Loma Vista's sales record setting first annual production sale. Texas Monthly featured Loma Vista's advertising agency in an August 1974 article highlighting the historic American record setting April, 1974 sale. In ensuing years cattle buyers from across the USA, Canada & Mexico continued to buy cattle marketed under the Loma Vista name.

Cattle ranching and leather goods go hand in hand. Leather cowboy boots, saddles, chaps and other necessary items are all part of the daily life of a working cattle ranch. So, by the 21st century, a lifetime love for high quality leather items of practical value has evolved into the creation of a line of genuine top grain leather products for both working men and women. Historical note of interest: The Mexican general, Santa Anna, is said to have stopped near the community of Loma Vista on his march to San Antonio for the Battle of the Alamo in early 1836. Loma Vista was located along what was known as the Camino Real or Old Presidio Road that was used as a route to San Antonio from Mexico beginning in the 1600's.
